The Tutukiwi Gallery in the Civic Gardens features the Daily Display: your opportunity to grab an art bargain as the shapeshifter artists offer supplementary works of art for sale. The Dowse also curates this changing exhibition, with new sculptures going on display daily. Be quick because this art sale is first in, first served!

Late night Thursdays

Every Thursday | Until 10pm | Usual entrance fee applies

Thursday evenings are late nights at shapeshifter, when the exhibition is open until 10pm and special night lighting magically illuminates the gardens and sculptures. Why not bring a picnic and enjoy the unique atmosphere as the sun goes down?

Hutt Night Market

Thursdays | 4.30 – 9pm | Free

Come and enjoy live entertainment, and up to 70 stalls of artisan and ready to eat foods, clothing, jewellery and boutique services. The Hutt Night Market takes place on the street outside shapeshifter, so you can combine the experiences and enjoy a vibrant night out mid-week!

Late Lounge at The Dowse

Thursday 1 March | 7pm | Koha

Late Lounge at The Dowse – which is just opposite shapeshifter – brings selected Thursday evenings alive with guided gallery tours at 5.30 or 6.30pm. Enjoy tapas and drinks at Cafe Reka before multi-instrumentalist Johanna Mystery takes the stage from 7pm. Johanna's music is a combination of acoustic soul, Pacific Island roots and folk music styles. Her band includes drummer and multi-instrumentalist Ben Lemi Wood (Hikoikoi, Jump St), and jazz bassist Will Sklenars (Jump St, Justin Firefly Trio). All galleries, cafe, Lounge and Shopette at The Dowse are open till 9pm.

Guided tour with the artistic director

Sunday 4 March | 1pm | Free, but usual entrance fee applies

Meet Cam McCracken, the artistic director of shapeshifter and director of The Dowse Art Museum, and join him for a tour of the sculptures - all of which he carefully selected from a wide range of proposals from artists right around the country.
